Alex and Lillian Saltsman, ז"ל grew up in Detroit, Michigan, in the days when being an observant Jew was a daunting task. The Saltsmans were a committed couple and there was virtually no aspect of the Orthodox community that did not benefit from their charity, both in the form of monetary contributions and hard, tireless work. In Detroit, the three Young Israel branches, Yeshivat Beth Yehuda, Mikve Israel, The Lillian Saltsman Educational Enrichment Program, the Eruv, Machon L’Tora, NCSY and others have all benefited.

When some people talk about Israel, they speak of Israel Bonds, the JNF and other charitable pursuits. Alex and Lillian Saltsman, ז"ל, preferred to point to the Young Israels of Petach Tikva, Jerusalem and the Shomron that they helped build and support.

ביה"כ ישראל הצעיר - נוה עליזה

אלקס וליליאן זלצמן ז"ל גדלו בדטרויט, מישיגן בתקופה שלהיות יהודי שומר מצוות היתה משימה לא קלה. הזלצמנים היו זוג מסור ולא היה כמעט היבט אחד בקהילה הדתית שלא נהנה מפרי ידם, הן על ידי תרומתם הכספית והן על ידי עבודתם הקשה והבלתי פוסקת. בדטרויט נהנו ממעשי ידיהם שלושה סניפי ישראל הצעיר, ישיבת בית יהודה, מקווה ישראל, תכנית ההעשרה החינוכית על שם ליליאן זלצמן, הערוב, המכון לתורה, ארגון נוער בתי הכנסת ועוד.

כאשר מדברים על ישראל הרבה אנשים חושבים על בונדס ישראליים, קרן הקיימת ושאר גופי התרמה. אלקס ולילאן זלצמן ז"ל העדיפו לכוון את עזרתם לסניפי ישראל הצעיר בפתח תקווה, ירושלים והשומרון ועזרו להקים ולתחזק אותם.
