The Young Israel of Neve Aliza
Sefer Torah Project

The Young Israel of Neve Aliza has embarked on an exciting new project of writing a Sefer Torah.

The goals of the Sefer Torah Project are to foster broad community participation, provide inspirational and educational programming and serve as a memorable experience. In addition, it will provide the wonderful opportunity to fulfill the mitzvah of writing a Torah scroll – both on a personal and communal level while bringing a new Sefer Torah into the community.

The Sefer Torah Project has two additional dimensions:

1.  This Sefer Torah is being written with the intention that it will be used by the community for special occasions such as the “open community service” for Yom Kippur, which draws hundreds of people that would not normally attend services; occasions such as Shabbatot outside the Yishuv, where a kosher Sefer Torah is not always available, and, Lo Alenu, when a Sefer Torah is needed for a mourner’s house.

2.  Part of the proceeds from this project will be used to fund an additional Beit Midrash for the Shul. The recent growth of our community has created the need for an additional room to be used for tefilot on Shabbat, Shiurim and learning groups.

Why Donate to a Sefer Torah Project?

The final Mitzvah in the Torah commands all Jews to each write a Sefer Torah. Our Sages tell us that one can also hire a scribe to write the Torah for them or they can purchase words, letters or passages, in order to fulfill this Mitzvah.

Each and every letter in the Torah is important. If even one letter is missing, the Torah is not suitable for use. This shows us the importance of unity in Am Yisrael. Just like each and every letter is important for the Torah to be complete, so too, each Jew is important, for we are all connected and need to function as a unit for us to be a strong and complete nation.

Why Us?

The Young Israel of Neve Aliza Sefer Torah Project accommodates just that idea. It provides an opportunity to take part in the important mitzvah of writing a Sefer Torah while showing support and unity with our fellow brethren livingin the heart of the Shomron.

Now, more than ever, it is imperative to support the Yishuvim of the Shomron. Recent history has proven that we can no longer sit idly by and rely on political forces to ensure our security and future. Your support and love demonstrates that there is a larger support system sharing our ideology.

Who We Are

The Young Israel of Neve Aliza is a center of religious and social activities in our yishuv. Guests in our shul can’t ignore the mixture of Hebrew and English amongst its congregants. Along with its daily tefilot, it hosts weekly shiurim on a variety of topics in both English and Hebrew. The Women’s League organizes a plethora of activities in the community for both the entire community and for women. Special events are organized in celebration of the holidays, enriching the social lives of all the congregants.

In the recent difficult times which have been bestowed upon our nation, our community has opened its hearts and homes to those in need of a warm loving place to stay. Whether it be our brothers from the North or from Gush Katif we have seen to it that they feel at home and welcome. They were provided with food, books, toys, furniture and so forth, all through the generosity of our esteemed members.

The Young Israel of Neve Aliza hosts the beautiful Saltsman Family Simcha Hall which is available for rental for both members and non-members of the community.

The Young Israel of Neve Aliza is honored to have a prestigious team of Rabbis, Rabbi Shlomo Gold and Rabbi Meyer Berglas (Rabbi Emeritus) guiding the spiritual needs of the congregation.
